„Pryč od Rakousko-Uherska!“ Projekt tranzice/transformace hospodářského prostoru českých zemí/Československa zrozený na konci Velké války a jeho tvůrci “Away from the Austro-Hungarian Empire!” The Project of Transition/Transformation of the Economic Space of the Bohemian Lands/Czechoslovakia Born at the End of the Great War and its Creators Historický časopis, 2026, 74, 1, pp. 69-100, Bratislava Abstract: The study presents the emerging discourse among Czech national economists and business elites during the First World War on the economy of the future independent Czech/Czechoslovak state. The preparation for economic disengagement from Vienna and Budapest acquired institutional form, when the top national Czech business associations were formed; press form, namely reflections on the state of the economy and future economic policy in the pages of the daily newspapers and magazines; and, above all, the form of an explicit transition-transformation economic programme/ project. In addition to the programme itself, the focus of the research is on its creators as a specific, exclusive group of people with unusually high economic, social and cultural capital. The collective biogram shows a very close link to the business environment, especially to the banking sector. Key words: Economic Transition/Transformation. Transformation Project. Austria-Hungary.
