Parliamentary Elections and the Activity of the Czechoslovak People’s Party in the Political Life of the First Czechoslovak Republic as Presented by the Representatives of the Holy See. Historický časopis, 2021, 69, 2, pp. 273–291, Bratislava. Abstract: The study Parliamentary elections and the activity of the Czechoslovak People‘s Party in the Political Life of the First Czechoslovak Republic as Presented by the Representatives of the Holy See deals with the reports on the parliamentary elections by the Vatican diplomats in Czechoslovakia in the period of the First Republic (1918–1938). This represents a valuable source of knowledge of the multi-layered activity of the Apostolic Nuncio in Prague, who regularly sent his detailed reports to the Secretary of State of the Holy See - in the 1920s, Cardinal Pietro Gasparri and Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli, later Pope Pius XII. The study deals with every parliamentary election that took place during the inter-war period (April 1920, November 1925, October 1929 and May 1935). Their results are compared in relation to both the expectations of the representatives of the Holy See and the political and religious reality in Czechoslovakia, considering each election to be a phenomenon that cannot be comprehensively studied without knowledge of the Vatican archives. The text is primarily based on the Historical Archive of the State Secretariat of the Holy See in the Vatican and abundant Czech literature. Keywords: Czechoslovakia. Resumé: Parlamentswahlen und die Tätigkeit der Tschechoslowakischen Volkspartei im politischen Leben der ersten Tschechoslowakischen Republik im Spiegelbild der Vertreter des Heiligen Stuhls. Die Studie Parlamentswahlen und die Tätigkeit der Tschechoslowakischen Volkspartei im politischen Leben der ersten Tschechoslowakischen Republik im Spiegelbild der Vertreter des Heiligen Stuhls befasst sich mit der Reflexion der Parlamentswahlen während der Ersten Republik durch den vatikanischen Diplomaten in der Tschechoslowakei. Dies ist eine wertvolle Quelle, um mehr über die vielschichtigen Tätigkeiten des Apostolischen Nuntius in Prag zu erfahren, der dem Staatssekretär des Heiligen Stuhls ausführliche Berichte darüber übermittelte – in den 1920er Jahren war es Kardinal Pietro Gasparri und im folgenden Jahrzehnt Kardinal Eugenio Pacelli, der später als Papst Pius XII. bekannt wurde. Nuntien Clemente Micara, Francesco Marmaggi und Pietro Ciriaci überwachten somit nicht den Wahlkampf und Verlauf der Wahlen, sondern vor allem die Ergebnisse und Nachwahlverhandlungen, die sich direkt auf das politische und religiöse Leben im Land auswirkten. Sie betrachteten mit Interesse nicht nur die Erfolge der Tschechoslowakischen Volkspartei bzw. Hlinkas Slowakische Volkspartei, aber auch andere politische Parteien, in denen Katholiken vertreten waren. Ihre umfangreichen Berichte, Telegramme, Kommentare, Analysen, Informationen aus glaubwürdigen Quellen, Zeitungsausschnitte usw. geben Aufschluss darüber, inwieweit ihre Ideen mit der tschechoslowakischen Realität übereinstimmten, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Position des politischen Katholizismus. Der Text basiert hauptsächlich auf dem Historischen Archiv des Staatssekretariats des Heiligen Stuhls im Vatikan und zahlreichen tschechischen Literaturquellen.
